PCX Solutions Featured in ADB’s Brief on Opportunities within the Global Plastic Treaty
The Asian Development Bank’s recent brief - Addressing Plastic Pollution for Climate Benefits: Opportunities in the Global Plastics Treaty for Asia and the Pacific, highlights key financing and investment mechanisms that can support its developing member countries in reducing plastic pollution. These can be summarized into 3 categories - Development of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) frameworks, Scaling up plastic credit schemes, and Digital and high-level technological solutions for plastic waste management.
PCX Solutions has and continues to align with this approach. We are proud to have been featured as one of the pioneers of plastic credit models that support and enable EPR, all while driving funding into waste management infrastructure and to the communities most affected by the crisis.
These financing mechanisms empower corporations to support effective waste management through voluntary action or compliance-driven schemes like Extended Producer Responsibility. The report highlights that “Plastic credits can thus help bridge the financial gap for governments in managing plastic waste until fully functional EPR schemes are developed, and credit systems can potentially provide an immediate market-based strategy to address solid waste mismanagement and promote circularity.”
At PCX Solutions, we are committed to creating systemic change through our solutions and collaborative approach. The recognition from the ADB reinforces the importance of our work in tackling plastic pollution and highlights the significant role that businesses can play in driving a circular economy. Together, we are creating a future where no plastic ends up in nature.
