AXA Philippines Joins PCX in Addressing Plastic Waste

AXA Philippines, one of the country’s leading insurance providers, has recently joined Plastic Credit Exchange (PCX) in its commitment to curb the growing plastic waste crisis. Intending to create a lasting impact on the environment, AXA Philippines (AXA) will be supporting the rollout of a new location for PCX’s Aling Tindera Waste-to-Cash program.

The partnership was signed on September 20, 2021, aligning with AXA’s commitment to sustainability and acting for human progress by protecting what matters. Nominated by their local government officials, Aling Tindera partners are women micro-entrepreneurs who champion the preservation of the environment and their communities. The program also empowers community members by providing a cash incentive for plastic waste collected and sold to the partner Aling Tindera.

“With plastic waste continuing to accumulate in landfills and oceans, this is an issue we should all take seriously. We look forward to taking a concrete step — among many others — toward realizing the vision of a pollution-free community through our partnership with PCX,” said Rahul Hora, AXA Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer.

On top of their commitment to offset waste through the partnership, AXA also invited their customers to take part in reducing plastic waste upon registering on the Emma by AXA PH app. AXA has pledged to offset an additional 15kg of plastic waste on behalf of every customer who registers to the app within the month of September.

On her part, PCX Impact Director Ilusion Farias shared, “Having partners like AXA Philippines is vital to addressing the plastic waste crisis. Their commitment to being part of the solution shows their true promise to act for human progress by protecting what matters.”

AXA Philippines’ Aling Tindera location will be joining the growing list of drop-off points within the City of Manila. PCX is currently working towards rolling out the new location before the end of the year.
