Century Pacific Brands Now Certified Plastic Neutral

Cementing its commitment to reducing plastic pollution, Century Pacific Food, Inc. (CNPF) has earned Plastic Neutral Brand Certification for all plastic packaging across its entire packaged food portfolio. Brands included are Angel Coffee Creamer, Coco Mama, Argentina, Hunt’s, Wow, Fresca Tuna, Century Quality Bangus, Home Pride, Swift, Birch Tree, and unMEAT.

Following their pledge to pursue neutrality last October 2020, the certification of CNPF means that all their brands have successfully balanced their plastic footprint by recovering an equivalent amount of plastic waste away from leaking into nature and ensuring it is processed safely into the circular economy.

Caring for the environment and minimizing our impact are key pillars of CNPF’s sustainability program. We are fully committed to our plastic neutrality initiatives because we firmly believe that it is only right and proper for our business, our planet, our people, and the communities we serve,” said Greg Banzon, CNPF Chief Operating Officer.

As part of the PCX certification process, a third-party verification was conducted by auditing firm PricewaterhouseCoopers. CNPF neutralized more than 6,600 metric tonnes of plastic waste and received Plastic Credits to offset the equivalent volume of plastic waste from January 1, 2019, to December 31, 2020.

Additionally, Birch Tree supports two locations of PCX’s Aling Tindera Waste-to-Cash program in the City of Manila. This program increases income opportunities for women sari-sari store owners and the communities at large by allowing them to earn cash from collected post-consumer plastic waste. This market-based solution assists in the important work around behavior change and creates grassroots sustainability champions.

PCX Sustainability Campaign Manager, Meg Anne Santos shares, “We want to congratulate Century Pacific Food Inc. in receiving their Certification for Plastic Neutrality. Having a forward-looking market leader as part of the movement against plastic waste will encourage consumers to choose more sustainable products that benefit our environment.”
