As part of the recommended solution set to keep plastic waste out of nature, Plastic Credit Exchange (PCX) offers a variety of collection points in areas that are hardest hit by the plastic pollution crisis. PCX launched the Aling Tindera Waste-to-Cash program as part of a market-based mechanism that not only cleans up plastic waste but provides incremental income to communities and women micro-entrepreneurs who become neighborhood sustainability champions.
To celebrate its 76th year in the Philippines, PepsiCo Philippines is furthering its commitment to sustainability by supporting the rollout of 76 Aling Tindera Waste-to-Cash stations in strategic locations around the country. This follows the organization’s initial funding of manual balers and weighing scales to all network partners within the City of Manila last 2020, and its voluntary action to push for plastic neutrality in the Philippines for its entire portfolio of snacks. PepsiCo was recently awarded a 100% plastic neutral* certification for 2020 after a 3rd party audit by Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC) and Plastic Credit Exchange. PepsiCo Foods Philippines is committed to staying Plastic Neutral for the years to come.
“After experiencing its success in Manila, we are happy to support the expansion of PCX’s plastic waste collection sites nationwide. We believe these programs will continue empowering both communities and women-owned small businesses while inspiring positive change for the planet. PepsiCo looks forward to accelerating sustainable transformation with the Filipino communities we serve and building the future we all must have,” shared Anne Marie Corominas, PepsiCo Corporate Affairs and Communications Head for the Philippines and North & Southeast Asia.
“Having partners that are committed to making a positive impact for the planet is vital to achieving the goal of no plastics in nature. We are grateful for PepsiCo Philippines and the work they do for the country — both through plastic neutrality and the Aling Tindera program,” voiced Ilusion Farias, Impact Director of PCX.
PepsiCo recently introduced pep+ (#PepsiCoPositive), a strategic end-to-end transformation with sustainability at the center of how the company will create growth and value by operating within planetary boundaries and inspiring positive change for the planet and for people.
To date, PCX has cleaned up over 31 million kilograms of plastic waste across its network to ensure it doesn’t wind up in nature.
