Plastic Credit Exchange (PCX) and SM Cares, in partnership with Colgate-Palmolive Philippines, are happy to announce the launch of two new plastic waste collection locations in SM City Marilao and SM Southmall. Catering to a wider market, SM City Marilao is the first location outside of Metro Manila, while SM Southmall provides a more convenient plastic waste collection for those residing in the south.
SM City Marilao and SM Southmall are the seventh and eighth drop-off locations joining the existing collection stations found at SM Marikina, SM East Ortigas, SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, SM City North Edsa, and SM City Fairview. To date, almost 8,000kg of plastic waste has been collected, with the hope of expanding to more SM locations soon and making the fight for our planet more accessible to Filipinos nationwide.
“We are happy to continue to work with SM as we increase our collection points in different areas of Metro Manila and beyond. At Plastic Credit Exchange, we believe that we are not an excuse to pollute and that the solution to the war on plastic waste must be comprehensive. We are happy to provide more opportunities for all kinds of Filipinos to participate in the cause,” says PCX Impact Director, Ilusion Farias.
The kinds of plastic that will be accepted at the collection points are your everyday items, such as PET and High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) bottles; shampoo, soap, detergent, or other liquid chemical bottles; plastic bags, bubble wrap, and e-commerce pouches; food containers, plastic cups, lids, utensils, and straws; and snack packets, sachets, and styrofoam, all of which must be clean, empty, and dry.
The Plastic Waste Collection station in SM City Marilao may be found at the back of the mall, close to the motorcycle parking slots, while that of SM Southmall may be found at the West 1 parking lot. All drop-off points are open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
