Plastic Credit Exchange (PCX) and SM Cares, in partnership with PepsiCo, are happy to announce the launch of Pampanga’s first set of plastic waste collection stations, soon to rise in the busy shopping malls of SM City Pampanga and SM Telabastagan. Catering to a wide market, both locations aim to raise awareness on responsible waste management and encourage more residents to take part.
SM City Pampanga is the 2nd largest shopping mall in Northern and Central Luzon, while SM Telabastagan is strategically located along MacArthur Highway. These additional sites will be PCX’s 11th and 12th stations, joining a roster of existing stations at SM North Edsa, SM Mall of Asia, and SM Megamall, among others.
“We’re excited to expand to Pampanga and continue our partnership with SM Cares. Hopefully, we get to increase our reach even further in the near future to get as many Filipinos involved in this as possible. We’re not an excuse to pollute, but rather, an additional way for people to take responsibility for their plastic waste,” says PCX Impact Director Ilusion Farias.
The types of plastic that will be accepted at the collection points are everyday items, such as PET and High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) bottles; shampoo, soap, detergent, or other liquid chemical bottles; plastic bags, bubble wrap, and e-commerce pouches; food containers, plastic cups, lids, utensils, and straws; and snack packets, sachets, and styrofoam. All items should be turned over clean, empty, and dry.
The Plastic Waste Collection stations in SM City Pampanga and SM Telabastagan are expected to open by the end of March. All drop-off points are open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
