Plastic Credit Exchange is now a member of the Global Partnership on Marine Litter (GPML) by the United Nations.
The GPML is a multi-stakeholder partnership that brings together innovative actors working to prevent marine litter and microplastics. Established by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the GPML provides a unique global platform to share knowledge and experience so that members are able to collaborate and advance solutions to the plastic crisis.
PCEx’s GPML certificate, issued in January 2021.
After participating in SEA of Solutions, an annually occurring partnership event towards solving plastic pollution at source, PCEx was encouraged by the UNEP to apply for membership to the GPML.
The GPML’s mission is to protect the global marine environment, human well-being, and animal welfare by addressing the global problem of marine litter by: (1) providing a platform of cooperation to share knowledge and expertise as well as identify gaps and emerging issues; (2) harnessing the experience, resources, and enthusiasm of all stakeholders; and (3) making a significant contribution to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda, specifically SDG 14.1.
PCEx was awarded its membership certificate on 8 January 2021. As a member of GPML, PCEx can benefit from expertise and new research at its fingertips, making it simpler to contribute to efforts being done globally, regionally, and locally to address the issue of marine litter.
